Lasting. Sustainable. Natural.
I’d always been drawn to flowers, though it took me a while to properly acknowledge it. The feeling was always there—quiet but persistent—whenever I found myself outside, whether wandering across Dartmoor or noticing the subtle shifts of the seasons.
Eventually, that feeling became impossible to ignore. I found myself craving fresh air, open landscapes, and the kind of beauty that changes day by day.
So my partner and I packed up our little campervan and travelled across Europe, staying on smallholdings and spending our days outdoors. Living closely with the land, noticing the rhythms of the seasons, and embracing a slower pace helped us reconnect with what felt most instinctive.
It was there that growing and arranging flowers began to feel less like a distant idea and more like a tangible way forward.
Finding Loame
Nature’s classroom
When we returned to the UK, I threw myself into learning. We spent a year on a regenerative farm in Devon, cultivating the land, establishing a terraced cut-flower garden, and caring for, cutting, and drying blooms. As summer unfolded, I watched the landscape change—more bees emerging, beetles weaving through foliage, tiny lives moving in and out of the gardens. Seeing biodiversity up close, witnessing how flowers support an entire world of creatures, made me realise that blooms aren’t just beautiful; they’re part of a bigger story. They feed ecosystems. They shape landscapes. That understanding now sits at the heart of Loame: a commitment to creating pieces that respect the small, essential creatures working quietly alongside us.
It was also during that time that I fell in love with dried flowers—their longevity, their pared-back charm, and the way they offer a sustainable, low-waste alternative to traditional floristry…
Blooms and beyond
Today, I source British-grown dried flowers and create botanical pieces inspired by the rugged beauty of Dartmoor. And soon, Loame will be home-grown. I’m establishing my own growing space in a little corner of the South Devon countryside. Our vision is to create a productive space centred on boosting biodiversity. Until then, I work with trusted UK growers who share the same values.
Loame is the story of finding my way back to nature—one stem at a time.
